Truework Terminology
Truework operates with a few key concepts that will be used throughout the documentation, so we want to ensure our terminology makes sense to you.
Verification
A verification is a request to verify employment or income for an employee. They come in several flavors:
- Verification of Employment (VOE): A verification of employment is used to verify an employee’s length of employment, job status, and position at a given employer.
- Verification of Income (VOI): A verification of income includes all the data that is included in a VOE, but also verifies an employee’s salary and historical earnings for up to the past three years.
- Reverification of Employment (ROE): A reverification of employment reverifies all employment details from an already completed VOE or VOI within a 90 day timeframe.
Order
An order is a collection of one or more related verifications that get executed together.
Target
A target is the applicant, borrower, consumer, or employee whose employment or income data is being verified.
Employer
An employer is where the target being verified states they work. Truework offers options to verify a target with or without specifying an employer.
Company
Used interchangeably with employer.
Verifier
A verifier is the party requesting the verification (that’s you)!
Verification method
A verification method is how Truework fulfills a verification. There are several verification methods that, when used together, can verify up to 95% of U.S. employers. An overview of available verification methods can be found on our website:
Waterfall
A waterfall is a combination of several verification methods in a hierarchy. If a preferred method fails to complete a verification, the waterfall will “fall back” to the next method until the verification is completed. The default waterfall used when you request a verification through Truework is Instant: Credentials → Documents (beta) → Smart Outreach. The waterfall can be configured to omit certain verification methods if needed for your use case.
