Advance Auto Parts

Advance Auto Parts is a retail store specializing in automotive parts and accessories in the United States. Their headquarters are in Roanoke, Virginia. CARQUEST stores are now part of the Advance Auto Parts brand, and as of 2015, there were more than 5200 stores owned by the company and more than 1300 stores own independently. As of January 2015, Advance Auto Parts employed approximately 74,000 people. Most of the positions are in-store positions, which include retail clerks, commercial account representatives, and delivery drivers. Some stores operate as hubs for all of the Advance Auto Parts stores in the area for lesser used or requested parts.

Advance Auto Parts was started in April 1932 when Arthur Taubman purchased two stores from Pep Boys. Both of these stores were in Virginia, one in Roanoke and one in Lynchburg. The company expanded for the first time in 1998 when they acquired the remaining stores and other operations of Western Auto, a store that had been taken over by Sears Roebuck and Company. Products offered by Advance Auto Parts are almost exclusively restricted to auto parts and auto accessories. They carry a selection of commonly requested auto parts for the most-used vehicles, as well as a wider selection of those products in hub stores.

Advance Auto Parts is an international operation, but with limited reach. There are more than 6500 stores that operate across the United States, as well as in Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and Canada. During the 2017 fiscal year, Advance Auto Parts reported revenue of $9.42 billion. That came out to be a revenue per share of $127.39.
