Advocate Health Care

Advocate Healthcare is one of the top five major health systems in the United States. They are the largest health system in Illinois. The headquarters for this non-profit, faith-based healthcare system is located in Downers Grove, Illinois. Advocate Healthcare is one of the largest employers in Chicago with more than 35,000 employees. This includes 6,300 affiliated physicians and 10,000 nurses. In 2017, Advocate was recognized as one of the best places to work and as one Diversity Inc.'s Top 12 Hospitals and Health Systems. There are 400 different locations with 12 hospitals and two children's campuses. Most of the employment opportunities at Advocate are for medical providers or support staff.

Advocate Healthcare was formed when Evangelical Health Systems Corporation and Lutheran General Health System merged in January 1995 under the new name Advocate Healthcare. The customer base for Advocate is extremely large, with their website reporting 3 million visits overall in 2017 and 1.2 million unique patients visiting the facilities. Products and services provided by Advocate Healthcare include standard provider consultations, surgeries, long-term treatment, emergency care, OB/GYN, elderly care and more.

Advocate Healthcare is not an international organization. In fact, their reach does not extend much farther than the state of Illinois. They are the largest health system in Illinois and almost exclusively are based in the area with the majority of their facilities in the Chicago area. Advocate Healthcare is a private organization, but it is also a not-for-profit organization. The only reported investment was a single round of funding in which they raised $18 million. It is unclear who the lead investor was for this organization, but the funding round completed on October 3, 2013.
