ALDI is a German discount supermarket chain with more than 10,000 stores across the globe. They have a massive customer base and the chain is based in Germany. Two brothers started ALDI stores in the late 1940s and since then the business has grown massively to become a store best-know for discount shopping in locations around the world. ALDI had approximately 104,000 employees as of 2015. This company can trace its roots back to 1913 when Carl and Theo Albrecht started a store in suburban Essen. At the time, their father had a job as a miner and then later became employed as a assistant in a bakery. The two had various jobs while they were coming up with the idea for ALDI, with Karl Albrecht eventually taking over and managing a food shop which gave him the idea for discount groceries. In 1946, after serving in World War II, the brothers took over their mother's business and opened a retail outlet.
