American Medical Response

American Medical Response is a medical transportation company in the United States that provides emergency and nonemergency transportation services as well as managed transportation, fixed wing air ambulance transport and disaster response. They are present in more than 4000 communities across the United States and around the world and have approximately 29,000 employees. Many of those employees are clinicians, and open positions specifically include EMTs, dispatchers, flight nurses, critical care nurses, paramedics, operations teams, schedulers and more.

The company does their own training and has a fleet of more than 6600 ambulances as well as air ambulances and other vehicles. The headquarters for American Medical Response is located in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

The company began in 1991 when Paul Verrochi attempted to come up with a strategy to consolidate the ambulance industry, modeling it after a strategy that had been successful for Waste Management. Several companies participated in the merger including Regional Ambulance (Alameda and Contra Costa counties, CA), Vanguard Ambulance (Santa Clara County CA), and Buck Ambulance (Portland OR). The company was bought and sold several times with the most recent activity being the sale of AMR to KKR & Co. LP by Envision Healthcare for $2.4 billion. Products and services offered by AMR include specialty transportation for patients with special needs, life support transportation for patients that require monitoring, disaster response, air ambulance services, managed transportation services and on-site services for remote work locations.

American Medical Response serves more than 4000 communities across the United States. There are a few locations around the world as well.
