Ascension

Ascension Health is the largest health system in the world based upon the Catholic faith. It is also the biggest nonprofit health system in the United States. It is present in 23 states as well as in DC and it is made up of various hospitals and medical practices and lots of different communities. Ascension provides services such as biomedical engineering, venture capital management, physician practice management, healthcare logistics and delivery and more. Their headquarters are in St. Louis, Missouri, and employment opportunities include behavioral health workers, registered nurses, emergency medical technicians, PRNs, emergency department techs, certified medical assistants, emergency department nurses, philanthropy coordinators, and more.

The company was founded on November 1, 1999, by the Daughters of Charity National Health System, which was based in St. Louis. It is also a partnership with the sisters of St. Joseph Health System based in nearby Kalamazoo, Michigan, and with another St. Louis-based healthcare organization called Carondelet Health System. As of 2018, Ascension had providers in 21 states and in the District of Columbia. That included 151 hospitals and more than 50 senior care facilities with a total of 2600 care sites in the United States. There are over 155,000 associates and 34,000 providers within the network. They have more than 1.4 million clinic visits every year and more than 147,000 home health visits. Not counting visits to the emergency room, the organization conducts 24.45 million outpatient visits each year as well. As of the 2017 fiscal year, they reported $1.98 billion spent to care for people living in poverty and community benefit programs.
