The retail store Bass Pro Shops legally goes by the name BPS Direct LLC. They are a private company in the United States specializing in all kinds of outdoor equipment. Bass Pro shops is the name of the retail stores, but the company actually has a number of stores each with a slightly different target audience or market segment. Bass Pro shops in particular concentrates on hunting and fishing merchandise and they are well known for supporting the national Audubon Society. As for employees, across all of their stores, they had approximately 22,000 employees in 2016. There are a number of career opportunities at Bass Pro shops. The company was founded in 1971 when an avid outdoorsman named John Morris decided to open up a small fishing section in the back of his father’s liquor store in Springfield, Missouri. 1971 was the official incorporation date of Bass Pro Shops, and just three years later, Morris began mailing out a catalogue. This was the beginning of the organization becoming the largest mail-order sporting goods store in the world. The store soon expanded outside of the state of Missouri, and in 2016, they acquired Cabella’s which was one of their major competitors.

Bass Pro shops in the company is under their banner are located almost exclusively in the United States. However, they do have a few stores outside of the US in Canada including British Columbia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta and Manitoba. They are a private company the reported $4.58 billion in revenue as of the 2016 fiscal year.
