About BYU-Idaho
BYU-Idaho, previously known as Ricks College, is a Mormon college in Rexburg, Idaho. The college is private and owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. In 2001, they became a four-year university after previously having been a junior college. BYU Idaho offers a number of programs including performing arts, some sciences and various liberal arts programs. There are six colleges within the organization that are organized into 33 departments. The University has approximately 19,400 students, but there is no information on how many employees they have. However, they do have a number of open positions which include faculty positions, staff and administration positions and student employment. Some specific positions may include adjunct faculty online, psychology faculty, systems portfolio manager, full-time marketing faculty, missionary services manager, building custodial supervisor and lots of others.
BYU Idaho has gone through a couple of different name changes throughout the years. They were founded in 1888 by the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints. The original name was the Bannock Stake Academy. Other names that the University has gone by include the Fremont Stake Academy, Ricks Academy and Ricks College; named after the state president at the time of the founding.
BYU Idaho only has the single campus in Rexburg, Idaho. The campus sits on approximately 400 acres with campus radio stations that stretch even farther. Students are required to follow the teachings of the Mormon Church in order to remain at the university. Some of the colleges that they have include the college of agriculture and life sciences, the college of business communication, the college of education and human development, the college language and letters, college of performing and visual arts in the physical sciences and engineering college.
