About Carrols
Carrol's Restaurant Group is an American company that owns the most Burger King franchises in the world. They have more than 800 Burger King locations that stretch across 20 states. The company previously had a chain that was called Carrol's, as well as two different restaurant chains called Pollo Tropical and Taco Cabana, but those restaurants stopped operating sometime in the 1970s. The last Carrol's chain was in Finland, but it was eventually bought out by another fast food chain. The group has over 10,000 employees, which does not count all the employees in their Burger King stores. Some of the categories of employment opportunities include accounting, customer service, general labor, information technology, installation, maintenance and repair, management, restaurant work and skilled labor.
The restaurant originated as part of the Tastee Freeze Company and it was named after the daughter of the owner of Tastee Treeze, Leo Marantz-Carrol. The franchise was sold in the early 1960s in the New York area and started expanding over the years across the state. The first mascot was a yellow slug, but it was replaced in 1974 by young blonde boy with a tweed suit and a fedora. As Carrol's owns Burger King restaurants, the products include burgers, french fries, soft drinks, chicken sandwiches, chicken nuggets, ice cream desserts, shakes, and all of the other food items that you would normally find on a Burger King menu.
By 1975, almost all of the Carrol's restaurant locations were converted to Burger Kings and stores that were not profitable were closed. Carrol's had already expanded overseas to a certain extent with stores in Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Russia and Sweden. However, the store expanded internationally on a much larger scale later on. They are public traded company that reported $1.14 billion in revenue during the 2017 fiscal year.
