Cognizant is an international Corporation with headquarters in Teaneck, New Jersey, that provides IT services including consulting, operation services and necessary digital technology to companies over the world. It is a publicly traded company and one of the fastest growing Fortune 500 companies. The company began in the era of the dotcom boom of the late nineties. As of 2018, Cognizant employed over 260,000 people. The company began in 1994 as Dun & Bradstreet and began servicing clients in 1996 including through several subsidiaries that had been created. These included IMS international, Nielsen Media Research, Pilot Software, Strategic Technologies and more. The parent company split up into two different groups in 1998 which included IMS Health and Nielsen Media Research. After the restructuring, Cognizant Technology Solutions became a subsidiary of IMS Health. The company now provides industry IT services and IT consulting for a variety of firms around the world. They focus on three different industries and service lines including digital business, digital operations and digital systems and technology.

As of the second quarter of 2018, the company employed over 260,000 employees, almost all of whom are employed outside of the United States. In fact, 150,000 of those employees are located in India. Offices in India where this company is present include Bangalore, Coimbatore, Gurgaon, Noida, Hyderabad, Kochi, Kolkata, Mangalore, Mumbai, and Pune. They also have global delivery centers in Hungary, the Netherlands, Spain, China, Philippines, Brazil, Mexico, Canada and the United Kingdom.
