About Dollar Tree
Dollar Tree is an American chain of discounted variety stores, previously known as "Only $1.00." The business is headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia. Dollar Tree employs approximately 176,100 people and provides opportunities for accountants, store managers, assistants, HR personnel, marketers, logistics professionals, and more. An early predecessor of the business was founded in 1953 by K.R. Perry, who opened the Ben Franklin variety store in Virginia. This would later become known as K&K 5&10. The business would grow to over 130 stores across the East Coast. Following this, Doug Perry and Macon Brock opened a competing chain called Only $1 in 1986. In 1991, the company decided to focus purely on the dollar stores and sold the K&K brand to KB Toys. In 1993, the name was changed officially to Dollar Tree Stores.
Dollar Tree is a Fortune 150 company with over 15,000 stores across the contiguous US and Canada. The company also owns eleven distribution centers as part of its logistics network.
