About Domino's Pizza
Domino's Pizza is one of the best-known pizza chains out there today, competing with the majority of delivery pizza consumers along with Papa John's and Pizza Hut. Domino's Pizza simply goes by Domino's now, and it was founded in 1960. The corporate headquarters is at the Domino's Farms office park in Ann Arbor, Michigan. As of 2018, Domino's pizza is the largest pizza seller worldwide. As of 2018, the company employed over 14,000 people. However, this figure only includes company-owned stores and offices. Domino's was founded on April 23, 1963, by Tom Monaghan and his brother James Monaghan. They took over the operation of the pizza store called Dominick's. This was a location in a small restaurant chain that was located near Eastern Michigan University. The brothers paid $1400 for the store with a $500 down payment. They were able to make a success of of the store and by 1965 Tom Monaghan had purchased two additional pizzerias for a total of three locations in the same county. Monaghan renamed the store Domino's and the three dots on the original logo represented the three original stores. Domino's offers a variety of products besides pizza, including sandwiches, desserts, drinks, pastas, breadsticks, chicken and more.
The first international Domino's store was opened on May 12, 1983, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. That same year, Domino's also opened its 100th store and its first store in Vancouver, Washington. The brand quickly grew internationally, and by 1995, there were more than 1000 international locations. Just two years later, the franchise had expanded to 1500 and by 2014, there were more than 6000 international locations. Domino's reported revenue of $3.1 billion for the 2017 fiscal year.
