About Gwinnett County Public Schools
Gwinnett County Public Schools is a public school district in Gwinnet County, Georgia. They are the largest school district in the state with 141 schools that are part of the district and more than 180,000 students enrolled as of the school year ending in 2018. They are also one of the top fifteen school districts in the United States by size. The headquarters are located in Suwanee, Georgia inside of Gwinnett County. They had approximately 23,300 faculty members at last count along with another 38,200 other staff members. There is not very much historical information available about Gwinnett County public schools, but as for Gwinnett County itself, it was created by the Georgia general assembly in 1818. Gwinnett County had been formed from parts of Jackson County and Franklin County, and the county was named for Button Gwinnett; who is one of the original people that signed the Declaration of Independence. Gwinnett County public schools is accredited by the Southern Association Of Colleges And Schools and by the Georgia Accrediting Commission.
The schools within Gwinnett County are divided into what they call clusters. Each cluster has between five and 10 schools at present. Each cluster also includes one high school, and the cluster is named for that high school. Clusters within Gwinnett County include the Archer Cluster, Berkmar Cluster, Brookwood Cluster, Central Gwinnett Cluster, Collins Hill Cluster, Discovery Cluster, Duluth Cluster, Meadowcreek Cluster, Millcreek Cluster, North Gwinnett Cluster, Peachtree Ridge Cluster, Parkview Cluster, South Gwinnett Cluster and several others. As of 2017, the schools budget was reported to be $2.09 billion.
