Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, which is most often abbreviated simply to "HP" is an American information technology company that has its headquarters in Palo Alto, California, with a multinational presence around the world. They have created a huge number of hardware and software resources for computer users including HP laptops, desktops and most of all, HP Inkjet and other printers. HP is one of the biggest companies in the computer industry today and has approximately 49,000 employees with positions that you may expect from a Silicon Valley firm including software engineers, programmers, computer technicians and many more. Specifically, some of the positions include customer representative, ink chemist, planning managers, regional business managers, data scientists, immersive computing group workers, and technical program managers.
This company started with two men: Bill Hewlett and David Packard. They both graduated with degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1935. HP began during a fellowship with a professor named Frederick Terman in 1938; the company began in earnest with an investment of $538. Hewlett and Packard decided to formalize their partnership and use a coin toss to determine which name would go first. The company was incorporated on August 18, 1947, and went public just 10 years later. Many of the products offered by Hewlett-Packard include Inkjet printers, but they also make both low-end and high-end laptop computers, desktop computers, and monitors. However, it is the Inkjet printer that they are well-known for.
Hewlett-Packard is found around the world including in Paris, France, and throughout the United States. They headquarters are in Palo Alto, California, but there are facilities located all around the United States. There are also offices around the world including Switzerland, France, the Asia-Pacific region, and Singapore. In 2017, they reported revenue of $30.57 billion.
