Macy's, originally R.H. Macy and Company, is an American department store chain that began more than 150 years ago and is now a division of the Federated Department Stores which is based in Cincinnati, Ohio; within the Bloomingdale's holding company. Macy's is recognizable to most Americans due to their role in the classic Christmas movie _Miracle on 34th St._, and their role in the annual Thanksgiving Day Parade to this day. Macy's, along with all of their subsidiaries and holdings, employed more than 130,000 people as of the 2017 fiscal year. Positions include retail sales positions, logistics, operations, advertising and lots of other in-store positions at Macy’s holdings throughout the world.

Macy's was founded in 1858 by Rowland Hussey Macy. It became a division of Federated Department Stores in 1994 and it was renamed Macy's Incorporated in 2007. As of 2015, Macy's was the largest department store in the United States by retail sales. In 2017, there were 669 full-time stores within Macy's. They have department stores all throughout the United States as well as in the United States territories like Guam, with the flagship store located at Herald Square in New York City in the borough of Manhattan. The store will be recognizable to those who have seen the Christmas classic movie with Natalie Wood and Maureen O'Hara.

Macy's does not have any holdings or arms that stretch to other countries. As of 2017, they claim $24.9 billion in revenue with $81.53 in revenue per share. They were able to claim an almost even amount when it comes to quarterly revenue growth. By the third quarter of 2016, it was reported that Macy's was operating 888 stores including Macy's, Backstage, Bloomingdale's, Bloomingdale's Outlets, and Bluemercury, to name a few stores.
