Mayo Clinic

The Mayo Clinic is a not-for-profit academic medical center with headquarters and clinical practices in Rochester, Minnesota. The focus of the Mayo Clinic is primarily education and research, although they also have an integrated clinical practice. The Mayo Clinic employees more than 4500 doctors and researchers as well as over 58,400 administrative and support staff. They work on a tertiary care model, specializing in the treatment of cases that have proven too difficult for other providers. They have more than 3000 researchers working full-time on various cures and treatment protocols and they are one of the best-known large-scale medical providers in the world. Some of the positions are Mayo Clinic include nursing positions, anesthesiology, pharmacy technician, technologist, general surgery, and LPN or CNA jobs.

The Mayo Clinic was founded on January 27, 1864. They have been in operation for more than 150 years. Three of the original founders had the last name Mayo, which is where the name came from, but there were several founders:

The clinic began when William Worrall Mayo immigrated from Lancashire, England, to Rochester, Minnesota, in 1863. At the time, he was an examining surgeon for the military. By 1964, several family members were serving in leadership roles around the community.
The Mayo Clinic has three main campuses, including the one in Minnesota. There are also campuses in Arizona and Florida. There are three states where the Mayo Clinic health system is in effect including Minnesota, Iowa, and Wisconsin. There are also many telework positions with the Mayo Clinic as well as researcher and medical provider positions. This is a not-for-profit company and the last funding they received was a $142 million grant from the National Institutes of Health.
