Northwell Health

Northwell Health is a healthcare network that includes over 20 hospitals and has its headquarters in new Hyde Park, New York. As of 2015, this was the largest health system in the state of New York based upon patient revenue. Some of these hospitals include the Feinstein Institute for medical research, the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine and many more. The name is relatively new as before 2015 it was called the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System. It is the largest private employer in New York featuring 23 hospitals, 6500 plus hospital beds and 665 outpatient facilities. They have more than 18,500 affiliated positions on the network and a total of over 60,000 employees. Most of the positions are for healthcare providers and support positions for those providers.

Northwell's beginnings go back to the early 1900s, which is when healthcare organizations were being established due to the agricultural extensions of New York City. The North Shore of Long Island, also known as the Gold Coast, became one of the biggest centers for wealth in the nation, and as a result, there were plenty of healthcare companies vying for a spot. Northwell started there and has had staying power to last until modern times. Some of the products and services that they provide include medical research, emergency medical services, rehabilitation, skilled nursing, a home care network, a hospice network, and progressive care centers with outpatient services scattered around the state.

The company is not located outside of the United States, and it is found almost exclusively in New York. However, it is the largest healthcare system in New York State and the fourteenth largest healthcare system in the United States. They have had several investment rounds including the most recent which was for $500,000 on August 15, 2018, with investors including Playback Health.
