Providence Health & Services

Providence Health & Services is a Catholic-based health care system that is not-for-profit organization and extends across multiple hospitals in five different states with hadquarters located in Renton, Washington. Providence employes over 120,000 individuals. Employment opportunities include medical service providers such as critical care nurses, emergency doctors and nurses, medical assistance, perioperative nursing, physical therapists, women's and children's nursing, clinical and ambulatory care, diagnostic imaging and technician positions, and more.

Providence was first established by the sisters of Providence in Montreal, Quebec in Canada. It was a community of nuns who were part of the Roman Catholic Church that were founded by Mother Emilie Gamelin in 1843. Just a few years later, the nuns went to Vancouver, Washington, to serve the native people. They established schools, hospitals, orphanages, and other helpful institutions.

Now a healthcare company, Providence provides health and human Services, acute care, family medicine clinics, hospice and home care, surgical services, nursing care and nursing homes, transitional care, assisted living and supportive housing services. There are 27 hospitals in the system, along with 35 non-acute care facilities and a number of other supportive housing and educational buildings.

This company is present in both the United States and Canada, although it has not expanded past those boundaries. This is a publicly traded company, however, with $1.63 billion in revenue reported during the 2017 fiscal year and a total revenue per share of $122.73.
