PriceWaterhouseCoopers, otherwise known as PwC, is a multinational professional services company with its headquarters in London, England. They are the second largest professional services company in the world and one of the big four auditors. The only company larger than they are when it comes to professional services is Deloitte. They also employ over 236,000 people and have a significantly higher number of open positions at any given time than most companies. Some of the position categories include actuarial services, application and emerging technology, corporate tax, care risk, finance, organizational strategy, and sales and marketing.
PwC was founded in 1998 due to a merger between Lybrand and Price Waterhouse. Both of these firms could trace their history back to the 19th century. The company re-branded in 2010 to shorten the name and make it more modern and palatable. In 2017, PwC was the fifth largest privately owned company in the United States. Services that they provide include legal services, financial advisory, actuarial services, management consulting, data and analytics, strategy consulting, tax advisory services and tax controversy services. They also provide assurance and other advisory services.
This company is actually a network of firms with 743 locations and more than 236,000 employees. They can be found in 158 countries as of 2015, with 22 percent of employees working in Asia and 26 percent in North America. The largest section of employees work in Western Europe, at 32 percent. As of 2017, PwC's global revenues were $37.7 billion, which comprised of $16 billion generated by its assurance practice and $9.46 billion generated by its tax practice, as well as an additional $12.25 billion created by the company's advisory practice. PwC provides services to all but 78 of the companies on the Fortune 500 list.
