The first Texas Roadhouse was created on February 17, 1993, in Clarksville, Indiana - directly across the Ohio River from Louisville, Kentucky. Kent Taylor was the founder of the first restaurant, and he had worked at nightclubs and restaurants for many years and wanted to attend a culinary school. In 1990, Taylor returned to Louisville and began to work at a Kentucky Fried Chicken as the manager. He then decided to open his own restaurant. A friend loaned him $80,000 to begin the Buckhead Hickory Grill, which would eventually become the Buckhead Mountain Grill, and in later years the Texas Roadhouse. Products offered by the Texas Roadhouse include steak, chicken, ribs, and seafood.
