Winn-Dixie

Winn-Dixie is a chain of grocery stores located within just a few states within the United States with headquarters in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2010, they came in at number 24 on the list of the top 75 food retailers in North America. In 2012, they were also ranked as the 45th largest retailer in the United States. Winn-Dixie is known for private label soft drinks they come in 20 different flavors as well as offering a variety of beef products. Winn-Dixie employs over 41,000 people and there are a variety of corporate and in-store jobs employment opportunities. Some of them include logistics, retail analysis and communications, store operations, stocking, baggers, grocery clerks, central procurement analysts, store managers and assistant managers, and more.

Winn-Dixie was founded by William Milton Davis in 1914 in Burley, Idaho. He formed the store along with his sons Artemus Darius Davis, James Elsworth Davis, Milton Austin Davis, and Tine Wayne Davis. Originally, the store was called Davis Mercantile. This was an example of a typical general store where various goods were offered on credit. However, in 1925, William Davis borrowed some money and moved to Miami, Florida, where he bought the Rockmoor Grocery which eventually became Winn-Dixie. Products include grocery items, bakery items, dairy, deli, floral, frozen foods, general household items and merchandise, meat, pharmacy, produce, seafood, and liquor.

Winn-Dixie stores are actually only present in four states. The majority of them are in Florida with over 350 locations. Winn-Dixie also had 60 stores in Alabama at last count, 17 in Georgia, 47 in Louisiana, and an additional 14 stores located in Mississippi. The revenue for Winn-Dixie is estimated at $15.1 million.
